Ruhrort – home of Duisburg port

Ruhrort is a district in Duisburg, in the North part of the city.

The River Ruhr and the River Rhine flow into one another in Ruhrort, creating the world’s biggest inland port.

Its history can be traced back to the 14th century but only in the 20th century became part of the city of Duisburg.

I highly recommend a visit and a stroll by the harbour and in the nearby old alleys. It’s only about 10 minutes away from Duisburg main train station by public transport.

Daily tours round the port are also available.
